The Broadway Experience
Ages 12-18
Carla Bianco, who starred on Broadway in the musical Rent, will conduct a musical theatre workshop for students interested in learning about what it’s like to perform on Broadway. They will get the opportunity to work on some basic vocal technique, including tone production, breath support and projection and will also engage in acting improvisation exercises to lay the groundwork for basic acting technique. Students will then get the chance to learn and perform the song ‘Seasons of Love’ from Rent with the Broadway staging.
Broadway Kids
Ages 7-11
Carla Bianco, who starred on Broadway in the musical Rent, will conduct a musical theatre workshop for students interested in performing in Broadway musicals. They will learn basic vocal technique including tone production, breath support and projection and will also work on basic acting skills including improvisation and theater exercises. Students will learn a favorite Broadway song where a sense of character and dramatic expression is introduced and staged with choreography.
Pop/Rock Singing Styles
Ages 18 and up
This course will provide an overview of pop/rock music history, which will include styles in pop/contemporary, rock and roll, R&B/soul, folk and many more and how it pertains specifically to American musical theater. Participants will become familiar with the varying vocal styles associated with the pop/rock genre and examine some of the main players who created and contributed to the style throughout history and how it has affected the emergence of contemporary pop/rock musicals. This course will also explore the difference between performing pop/rock styles for the theatrical stage or audition versus the club venue and recording studio. How to choose appropriate song material for each medium and how to meet the vocal and dramatic expectations associated with each will also be discussed. Each participant will have the opportunity to work on a song individually or as a group to serve as a learning tool for discovering the components that make up the pop/rock sound.

Musical Theatre Master Workshop
Ages 18 and up
Musical Theatre Repertoire as an intensive study in the art of musical theatre with an emphasis on solo performance, fundamental principles and practice in the craft of song presentation for the purpose of auditioning and performing. A functional approach to the basic techniques of solo song performance in the art of musical theatre.
Performing Arts College Audition Prep
Ages 14-18
This workshop is great for the student looking to major in a performing art in college. Students will cover the requirements for the colleges of their choice including monologues (contemporary and Shakespeare), songs (all genres and tempos), dance calls and interviews. Students will choose the best selections of songs and monologues that will showcase them at their best. They will work on all aspects of rehearsal and performance for developing and presenting each of their individual pieces in preparation for their college auditions.
Musical Theatre Repertoire
Ages 13-18
Musical Theatre Repertoire is a fun and intensive study in the art of musical theatre with an emphasis on solo and duo performance. Students will work on vocal and acting technique as it applies to their song presentations for the purpose of exploring different styles of musical theater and acquiring material for auditioning. Taught by Broadway star Carla Bianco, students will work on choosing song material in the styles that suits them and developing their song presentations to showcase each student at their best.
Contemporary Voice
Ages 13 and up
Contemporary Voice is for the student interested in singing contemporary music as seen on American Idol and The Voice. Taught by Broadway star and recording artist Carla Bianco, students will learn basic vocal technique used for contemporary sounds and choose the best song repertoire for his/her voice. Repertoire will include today’s popular music, along with some of the most popular songs of the 60s, 70s, 80s & 90s in various genres of pop, rock, Broadway, folk, R&B and country. There will be opportunity for solo, duo and group singing.
Songwriting and Performance
Ages 7 and up
Songwriting and Performance workshop is great for students who have song ideas and want to learn how to put them into a song! Taught by #1 Billboard songwriter and ASCAP award-winner Carla Bianco, students will learn about co-writing/collaboration, lyrics, melody and song structure. Combining talents and differing ability levels and interests, students will create their own compositions. The class will introduce students to basic music theory and music recording.
