Carla has worked extensively as an actor, singer, songwriter, instructor and director in New York, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh for the past 25 years. She first performed when she was just 4 years old at a party where guests filled a Styrofoam cup with money upon hearing her sing. Since then, Carla has secured numerous recording and composition deals and has appeared on West Coast, Broadway and off Broadway stages, all of which have won her chart placements, recognitions and awards. She is most known for her starring role as Maureen in the Broadway show Rent and for composing the #1 Billboard song, “The Lover That You Are”, which won her an ASCAP award. She also originated the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening in its early workshop phase working with Duncan Sheik at the Sundance Theater Lab.
After signing a distribution deal with Sony/RED, Carla released two albums as a recording artist, which have earned her respect in the indie music scene. She has been interviewed and reviewed by numerous international entertainment blogs and has opened for acts like Kenny Loggins. Some of her more notable film credits include George Romero’s Deadtime Stories, Denzel Washington’s film Unstoppable, and a scene playing opposite Matt Damon in Promised Land. Carla also has appeared in numerous commercials including Comcast & Adelphia as a nation-wide spokesperson.
Devoted to giving back to the community where her own dreams were born, Carla returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh to help found the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center and Charter School. She is certified in Somatic Voicework, The Lovetri Method from The Institute for Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy at Shenandoah University. Carla currently teaches private voice at Point Park University and runs the Carla Bianco Voice Studio, which is a proud partner of Sewickley Academy and Pennsylvania Academy of Dance.

CBVS offers some fabulous creative workshops, where students can learn firsthand the skills that are necessary to make it big. Topics include Broadway prep, songwriting and performance, pop/rock styles and so much more! Schools and colleges may also request a custom-made workshop. which is tailored specifically to your students’ needs.
